About the Update

Everything fits together

Everything fits together like a puzzle piece, forming the giant puzzle that we call minecraft, as we see cross-platform-play come into use. Why limit ourselves to playing with friends that only have the same device?

High Resolution

Minecraft in 4K resolution is like a whole new world! Everything is in finer detail, while still maintaining the classic blocky feel that makes Minecraft what it is.

Plenty more

The new update has plenty of long-awaited features including armor stands and stained glass! Have fun experimenting with that! Don't forget to join the Minecraft discord! Click here to join! The channel #beta-hype is all about the 1.2 beta in that discord! Head on over and check it out!

The Minecraft Team

Jeb

Jens Bergensten

Lead Creative Designer

Jeb joined Mojang in November 2010 as a game developer. Starting out as a back-end developer for Scrolls, Jeb became increasingly involved in the development of Minecraft, implementing features like wolves, pistons, and map structures (villages, strongholds and nether fortresses). Jeb later took the lead position in Minecraft development in December 2011 when Markus Persson (Notch) stepped down. On December 12, 2012, he announced that he would also take the lead of Pocket Edition.

Tom

Tommaso Checchi

Graphics and Overall Dev

He currently works for the team of development for Minecraft Pocket Edition. He also stated that while Johan [now resigned] is working on the "hard stuff", such as Realms, he would work on the "missing & easy things", such as splash text to the main menu in Pocket Edition. He also works on the game's graphics, such as adding improvements to the sky, glowing spider eyes, updated chest model, zombies and skeletons lighting on fire under sunlight, shadows and mipmaps.

Helen

Helen Zbihlyj

Community Manager

In the Minecraft community, Helen started as an active player & occasional Minecraft wiki contributor. She joined Microsoft Studios in November 2013 as Community Manager for the Windows 8 games portfolio. She assisted with community management of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition and later community management of the rest of the Minecraft: Console Edition platforms. She officially joined the Minecraft studio full-time in September 2014 to provide community management for the franchise.

Jason

Jason Major

Developer, Features Presentor

Jason Major is a member of the Minecraft Redmond studio and a developer for Minecraft Pocket Edition. He was born and raised in Canada but currently lives in the Seattle area with his wife and two sons. Jason contributed major changes to rabbits, which were introduced with the first Pocket Edition rabbits for Alpha 0.13, and later ported to PC 1.9. During a game jam, Jason first came up with the stray, among a bunch of other mobs – Jeb "thought these particular ones fitted really well with what we were already planning [for 1.10]". He occasionally joins the official Minecraft livestreams.
