Little update

+

Thanks to @HelenAngel, we now have a new update from the Xbox insider team. On the Minecraft discord (link below), she said
"Hey my dears!
I have an update
The Xbox Insider team told us that they should be able to support public betas now. So this means that HOPEFULLY when we have a build (we do not have a beta build ready), we will be able to have public betas on Xbox One and Windows 10
So please go to the store & download the Xbox Insider Hub
We don't have a build but this will help you get ready for whenever we do
If you need any help installing the Hub app or further directions, please let me know. I'm here to help."

Full feature recap!

Now that all of Jason's features have been spoken, let's recap them all. From the start, we knew about fireworks, splitscreen functionality, and coarse dirt. In the 17 days of features following that, we learned much more. We now know, Banners, book and quills, transparent ice, stained glass, new blocks in the nether (added in 1.1.3 yesterday), and a fairly confusing map picture. Along with this we got armor stands with version exclusives, starting maps, bonus chests, gamerule options menu buttons, temperature changing with height, ticking area, tick_world entity component, despawn with distance entity component, buttons UI on commands, ravines, how to play guide in-game, jukeboxes, music discs, parrots, player heads on maps, new Pocket UI (and windows 10), fireworks, coarse dirt, and last but certainly not least, poles. I definitely look forward to this update! Take a look at all of the photos and videos above, and be sure to join the Minecraft Better Together discord server by clicking here! Changelog

Ooh!

I've missed a couple of days since the last blog post, but here's what we have to offer today! First up, we've got the 4th of july feature, something that we already know: fireworks. But, there are version exclusives including fireworks being able to be shot horizontally, and downwards-- not just up! They are fired in whatever direction the dispenser faces! Wow! We've also got the last feature- yesterday- another confirmed feature: coarse dirt with quite a dramatic video. Also yesterday, Tommaso showed us the new windows 10 edition UI, quite similar to what Jason showed for the pocket UI. Tommaso also showed us how the panes (glass and iron bars) all formed into poles when single. Much better than the old +. Lastly, while this is not BetterTogether, this goes back to day 3, part 2 as we see the 1.1.3 changelog with the new blocks in the nether!

OH MY GOODNESS!

Jason certainly wasn't kidding when he said that today's feature would be exciting! We've got classic crafting, and a new item UI! We've been waiting for this for a long time, as the old UI got quite crowded! LOOK AT THE BEAUTY OF IT ALL!!!!

Map features

Smalll one...

Jason is enjoying his nice, peaceful sunday morning, but of course he still has to tweet a feature. If you remember day 7, Jason said that he had 10 more to go. Now, he continues by saying 3 more SUPER EXCITING features are still to come! In case you can't figure this one out, maps display the heads of equipped player skins!

Fairly uneventful days

It has been a few days since I last wrote a post, that means 3 new features. 2 of them are already confirmed features, but with pictures this time. Day 11 is quite an interesting feature, with a how to play guide built in to the game, so you can access it without wifi! Day 12 was a bit funny, but was something which we knew from the beginning: Jukeboxes. Why was this funny? Read the tweet: "#BetterTogether #MCPE Day 11: Lay down that boogie and play that funky music till you die...". Notice anything wrong? It says "Day 11". Jason later made a joke about this, saying "Apparently I can only count to 11. That could explain our bug count.". Day 13, today, brings another photo and a video. We already knew that parrots were confirmed, so this should come as no surprise to you. As always, Jason made some wise cracks about these, saying "Day 13 (I think): We've achieved Parroty!!!! (Part 1)" and "Day 13 (Part 2): Complete with dancing". On a completely unrelated note, did you know that it is #CanadaDay?

Ravines!

Day 10's feature reveal was more than suiting for this monumental number: Ravines! Another long awaited feature coming in the Minecraft Better Together update! Many people look forward to ravines, but some people, such as CrazyOldYeti#2606 on the MCPE discord seem a bit paranoid, as he says "Ravines are death traps. Fall into them, have creepers fall from above. Shot of a ledge by skellies while trying to light up the damn thing, falling into the lava floor. D:". What do you think?

P.S: Sorry for posting this so late, I was a bit busy.

Even more buttons!

It looks like we've got more buttons instead of typing! There's a work in progress UI on the top commands! Take a look at Jason's example in the pics above! He used weather. Pretty cool, especially for me: A true shortcut lover.

Despawn

This is a big one!

Plenty of features were revealed today, both by Tommaso and Jason! Let's start with Jason's feature reveal. If you look at the first two pictures, you will notice stuff. In the first picture, you see snow on the top of the mountains, and grass below. In the second, you see snow and rain along with snow higher in the mountains. This is quite easy to infer: Temperature decreases with height! Now onto Tommaso's features, all version exclusives. This is a bit more confusing for most people, so I'll explain it to the best of my abilities. In the first feature that Tommaso revealed today, he shows the new /tickingarea command: It replaces spawn chunks, and now you can create updateable chunks even when no players are nearby! As long as the chunk limit is not exceeded, feel free to create as many chunks as you desire! The ticking areas work inter-dimensionally, and it enables features such as crop growth, command blocks, redstone, and mob activity even when the player is not around! Keep in mind that this will likely cause lag. There are also variations to the command, which I shall not list here. Next up, we have a tick_world component to entities. It prevents entities from despawning, and it also makes an entity load the world. It also adds an optional despawn distance that is available for entities which should despawn when players are too far away (example used in pic: ender dragon). Just keep in mind that, "[Tommaso] didn't implement this feature at all, [he's] just tweeting about it because the author isn't on twitter :)".

Plenty of options

Gamerules!

Would you look at that! Jason tweeted earlier today "Day 7: Useful to avoid typing on a touch screen or controller. ~10 more days of features left.". Basically, instead of having to use the /gamerule command, there are now switches in the options menu! Also, as per the last part of his tweet, there are about 10 more features to reveal, not 10 more days until release.

New blocks for the Nether

More options...

Today we got another feature that Java had. We now get starting maps and bonus chests! There isn't much to say on this topic.

Armor Stands and Exclusives!

Today, Jason said "#BetterTogether Day 5: Too much armor to wear? Now you can put them on display...". He shared with us a video (above) featuring an armor stand! This is a long-awaited feature. What's more? Version exclusives! Armor stands have arms, can hold tools, and when tapped: they strike different poses! Following this post, Tommaso told us how you can automate the poses by inputting a redstone signal! Awesome! I can't wait to see what's next!

What's this?

What?

Taking on a mysterious, yet semi-christmassy tone today, Jason said on Twitter, "On the fourth day of screenshots, MC:PE gave to me ... a screenshot of a map to see #BetterTogether". He left it to us players to figure out what he means. The most common speculation is that there is the ability to dual wield, only arrows, maps, and the totem of undying. Another popular theory is that the sword was redesigned. Take a look, it's a bit different. Then there were some different ones, such as one user suggesting seeing a ravine, and another tweeter suspecting coordinates on the map. I personally have no idea, it's up to you!

Fun with Stained Glass
New blocks for the Nether

Doubled up!

Yesterday, Tommaso revealed Stained Glass as an upcoming feature to MCBE! Today, Jason showed something to do with Stained Glass! It just shows what all java users already know: Beacons change color after heading through stained glass. Since this was not technically a "feature" reveal, he gave a true feature: more blocks in the nether! And what's even more special about this? It's coming EVEN SOONER than the better Together update! Awesome! Check out the images above.

Ooh!

Books!

Jason Major revealed a second feature of the Better Together update today. While he didn't state exactly what this is, the picture implies a lot. Taken from the Windows 10 version, it shows a book with writing, like java has. That's a Book and quill! This also has some features exclusive to the BE (see post 1 for explanation) including the ability to read two pages at once, and the ability to edit individual pages! In addition to Jason's feature reveal today, Tommaso tweeted that he managed to make ice transparent! This also confirms that we will have Stained Glass!

New Revelations!

On Twitter, Jason Major (@argo_major) says that each day he will reveal a new feature of Minecraft 1.1 EACH DAY (until he runs out, of course)! The very first feature reveal is banners! Have fun!

Minecraft Better Together Update revealed!

At the E3 conference earlier today, the Minecraft Better Together update was revealed! It has cross-platform play, and it switches the platforms all over to the Minecraft Bedrock Engine <-- the engine that Pocket Edition uses. This version is Minecraft Pocket Edition's version 1.2. Some pre-confirmed features include parrots, firework stars, firework rockets, music disks, jukeboxes, splitscreen functionality, and coarse dirt. Just a tip so you're not confused like I was, everybody is now using the acronyms BE or BC. BE for Bedrock Engine, or BC for Bedrock Codebase. Use either one!
